Summary

During the reporting period 1st April 2018 – 31st March 2019, Child Health Foundation (CHF) focused mainly on the issue of “Vaccine Hesitancy” which is an urgent global threat but needs local solutions to increase confidence amongst community regarding vaccination, therefore, through “IPA Vaccine Hesitancy” project.

1st International Training of Trainers Workshop, 14-16 December 2018 New Delhi, India

Child Health Foundation and International Pediatric Association organized 1st International Training of Trainers workshop, 14-16 December 2018 at Hotel Vivanta Dwarka (By Taj), New Delhi. The ultimate goal of IPA Vaccine Hesitancy Project is to reduce vaccine hesitancy in communities, disseminate the value of vaccination, increase demand for immunization, and to help reach the targets of the Global Vaccine Action Plan, and the sustainable developments goals. The event attracted 83 participants, chairs and faculty from 21 countries.

The workshop was supported by UNICEF, International Vaccine Access Center, Global Health Strategies under the academic grant from Sanofi Pastuer and Serum Institute of India. The workshop was attended by renowned faculties like Dr John Parrish Sprowl, Dr N K Arora, Dr Philip Weiss, Dr Lois Privor Dumm, Dr Robin Nandy, Dr Robb Butler, Dr Angus Thomson etc.

The workshop comprised of lectures, interactive sessions, and group work and so on. The comprehensive workshop provided training on Global Immunization Update, Vaccine Safety and Surveillance, Current issues in Immunization, Addressing Vaccine Hesitancy, Basics of Advocacy etc. as a whole the workshop aimed to improve Interpersonal relationship between health care providers and care givers.

The workshop started with introductory session by Dr Robin Nandy and Dr N K Arora. A roundtable discussion was done. The moderators were Dr T Jacob John and Dr Gagandeep Kang. The session was followed by dinner.

The workshop started next day 0830am. Sessions were conducted by Dr Robb Butler (UNICEF), Dr John Butler, Ms Lois Privor Dumm. The day ended by 6pm. The workshop on 16th December started by 08:30am with session by Dr John Parrish Sprowl (Indiana University) and Dr Angus Thomson followed by Social Media session by Dr Philip Weiss. The participant feedback were taken and certificates were distributed.
